Director of Construction - 360 Rail Services

Role Overview:

As the Director of Construction, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our projects through effective leadership, meticulous planning, and unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and financial stewardship. Your attitude towards teamwork and adaptability will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation as a trusted partner in the rail industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Champion a safety-first culture, overseeing the well-being of all personnel and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) before every task and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Lead by example in promoting on-track safety measures and empower all team members with stop-work authority when necessary.
  • Conduct comprehensive safety audits and provide regular safety training to uphold the highest safety standards.

Quality:

  • Drive a culture of excellence in project execution, aligning with customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure projects are built to appropriate design plans and specifications and all documents related to the project are appropriately retained.
  • Conduct thorough project inspections and ensure timely resolution of any quality issues through proactive communication and diligent follow-up.
  • Facilitate continuous learning and development among construction supervisors to enhance technical expertise and adherence to project specifications.
  • Oversee vehicle and equipment inspections to maintain operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.

Financial Stewardship:

  • Monitor project budgets closely and provide regular updates to leadership, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and addressing budget deviations promptly.
  • Procure materials and services competitively while maintaining quality standards and adhering to project scopes.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for additional work and ensure accurate documentation of project costs and expenses.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to streamline processes and optimize resource utilization.

Planning:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Utilize project management tools effectively, such as ProCore, to facilitate seamless project execution and communication.
  • Prioritize proactive planning and communication to mitigate project risks and adapt to changing circumstances effectively.

General Expectations:

  • Uphold professionalism in all interactions with customers, colleagues, and employees, serving as a role model for the 360 Rail Services team.
  • Demonstrate ownership and leadership on project sites, proactively addressing issues and fostering a collaborative working environment.
  • Embrace a mindset of resource-sharing and continuous learning, seeking opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills within the organization.
  • Utilize company resources responsibly and travel as needed to support project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in railroad construction or related industries, with a proven track record of project management success.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and financial management principles.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel as required to project sites.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience in estimating and executing large infrastructure and construction projects within the railroad industry. (preferred)
